Refugee Week 2023

T-shirt with Yexley Yeah + Everpress

In 2023, we are faced with an unprecedented refugee crisis. Despite making up less than one-third of the global population, 43.3m children account for almost 40 percent of those affected by forced displacement.

This demands urgent attention and compassion.

That’s why, for World Refugee Day, we've launched a new t-shirt for our, Migrant Footprint initiative to highlight the plight of refugees, challenge misconceptions and support War Child’s vital work in conflict zones.

Every dancefloor has a migrant footprint. Music scenes have been built, genres formed, and communities strengthened by the movement of people. Without the Great Migration there would be no Detroit techno, without post-war resettlement, no Northern Soul, and without Windrush no Notting Hill Carnival, jungle, garage or grime.

Everyone has a migrant footprint, designed by Yexley Yeah, is a proud acknowledgement for the majority who already know, and a friendly reminder to the minority who still haven’t got the memo. Empathetically opposed to the "go back to where you came from" rhetoric, it implies that refugees deserve a place where community, freedom, identity, self-expression is nurtured; as it is on our dancefloors. It speaks to the universality of migration and its irrefutable contribution to culture and society at large.

100% of profits from t-shirt sales – including an additional £1 for every purchase from Everpress – will be donated to War Child to support children and their families who have been forced to flee war and persecution.
